The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, invariably given as the acronym, IEEE, is a major international professional organization. They claim to be "the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity".

The most important computer-related standard they played a role in is the later Ethernet work.
