'''CompuServe''' (originally '''CompuServ Network, Incorporated''') was an early computer services company, founded in 1970 as a subsidiary of Golden United Life Insurance. They sold access to [[time-sharing]] systems, for which they used [[PDP-10]]'s heavily (initially for life insurance companies, with a specialized [[application]]s for them).

To start with, they had a [[KA10]], on which they ran lightly-modified versions of [[TOPS-10]]; they soon bought more of them, as their business rapidly grew. Later, they migrated, successively, to [[KI10]]s (which they enhanced with a [[cache]]), [[KL10]]s (which they improved with [[switching power supply|switching power supplies]]), and [[Systems Concepts]] [[SC-30]]s.

They were acquired by H&R Block in 1980.
