The SDS 940 (renamed to XDS 940 after SDS was purchased by Xerox and renamed 'XDS') was effectively an SDS 930 mainframe upgraded with memory management hardware (including virtual memory) to allow it to be used for time-sharing, using a derivative of the Berkeley Timesharing System.
