'''FAIL''' was the [[PDP-10]] [[assembler]] used on the [[Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory|Stanford AI lab]] [[WAITS]] system.  It was originally created Phil Petit, and maintained by Fred Wright, Ralph E. Gorin, and many other SAIL hackers.  It was ported to [[TOPS-10]], [[TENEX]]/[[TOPS-20]], and [[Incompatible Timesharing System|ITS]].

Some source files for early versions of the TENEX monitor were assembled with FAIL, so apparently it was in use at [[BBN]].  Later, only [[MACRO-10]] was used.
