I'm confused by the concepts "tape controller", "tape transport", "tape formatter", "tape drive", "tape unit", etc. Can someone please make a page to clarify? + | : OK, I'll take care of that. Basically, as I understand it (from my study of the [[TM11]]/[[TU10]] family), 'transport', 'drive' and 'unit' are pretty much synonomous. 'Controller' and 'formatter' as also somewhat synonomous. It all depends on the manufacturer though; how they paritition stuff, and how they pull out common sub-units to prevent un-needed duplication. E.g. the DEC 'master'/'slave' drive stuff.
