ProDOS was an Operating System for the Apple II line of computers.
The Apple IIe was already on the market when the new operating system (replacing DOS 3.3) was introduced. ProdDOS was up to eight times faster at accessing 5 1/4" floppy disks and introduced a lot of other improvements.
ProDOS was made available for developers in October 1983, but the Apple IIe apparently didn't start to ship with ProDOS until some when during the first quarter of 1984.
