The H7848 Power Supply needs a minimum amount of current (+5V:3A and +12V:0.5A) drawn for it to regulate properly.

The single disks (RD53/RD54) in the hard disk expansion box and the TK50 tape drive with the controller board in the tape expansion box do not draw enough current for the power supply to regulate.

The resistor load module is installed in these boxes to draw a sufficient amount of current to allow the power supply to regulate properly.

The +5 Vdc portion of the load module draws 3 Amps and the +12 Vdc portion draws 1 Amp.
