Stanford University is a university in Palo Alto (technically, Stanford), California. It was the home to a noted computer science research organization, SAIL; it was also the parent of a significant spin-off, the Stanford Research Institute. Other significant research groups at Stanford included the Institute for Mathematical Studies in the Social Sciences (IMSSS), and the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA).
