The TX01 Magnetic Tape Controller seems to be OEMed from Storage Technology Corporation; apparently it was the STC 3800-III Tape Control Unit. It supported TU70 and TU71 magnetic tape drives.

It interfaced to a standard IBM channel interface; for use on the PDP-10, it was connected through a DX10 Data Channel.
