A jumper is a small device used to connect two places together; it may be a wire with connectors on each end, or a conductive element inside a block of insulator. The term is also used for a piece of wire used for the same purpose, e.g. between a pair of wire-wrap posts.
Multi-conductor jumpers exist; they connect one group of points individually to another group of points.
