In computers, connection has two meanings:
- A join between two conductors, or between a conductor and some device (resistor, etc).
- In communication networking, a channel (usually a reliable byte stream) between two hosts (usually a client and server). In the TCP/IP protocol suite, it is TCP which provides connections.
