So the lack of a space between the 'v.d.e' and the pagename looked bad to me, so I added one - alas, now it insists on displaying the 'link arrow' there. Oh well, I guess it's still better this way - although it someone objects, I could live with changing it back. Jnc (talk) 13:24, 5 February 2018 (CET)

People's tendency to add everything they can think of to navigation boxes - and then to not write the articles - is really unfortunate. Not only does it cause a lot of red links in navigation boxes, it also causes the top of Special:WantedPages to fill up with these things (since the navigation boxes somewhat artificially inflate the number of references to them). I'm not saying we should outlaw putting a red link in a navigation box (although now that I think about it, I would support such a guideline), but I would like to set a time limit (say a month or so) for people to write the article - after which we would comment out the red link(s), until the matching article(s) was/were done. What do people think? Jnc (talk) 09:48, 29 December 2023 (CET)

To space, or not to space

So the lack of a space between the 'v.d.e' and the pagename looked bad to me, so I added one - alas, now it insists on displaying the 'link arrow' there. Oh well, I guess it's still better this way - although it someone objects, I could live with changing it back. Jnc (talk) 13:24, 5 February 2018 (CET)

A guideline to have no red links in navigation boxes

People's tendency to add everything they can think of to navigation boxes - and then to not write the articles - is really unfortunate. Not only does it cause a lot of red links in navigation boxes, it also causes the top of Special:WantedPages to fill up with these things (since the navigation boxes somewhat artificially inflate the number of references to them). I'm not saying we should outlaw putting a red link in a navigation box (although now that I think about it, I would support such a guideline), but I would like to set a time limit (say a month or so) for people to write the article - after which we would comment out the red link(s), until the matching article(s) was/were done.
