The TU40 Magnetic Tape Transport was a 9-track auto-loading magnetic tape drive from DEC; the transport section was apparently OEMed from Mohawk Data Sciences. It was used on the PDP-10, using a TM10 Magnetic Tape Control).
The tape transport utilized a single capstan, with air bearings.
