The VAX 8800 comes in three models, depending on the number of CPUs installed in the basic cabinet:
- 8820 - 2 CPUs
- 8830 - 3 CPUs
- 8840 - 4 CPUs
The first two may be upgraded in the field by the installation of additional CPU(s).
