NORD-5
Manufacturer: Norsk Data
Year Introduced: 1971
Word Size: 32 bit

The NORD-5 was a 32-bit minicomputer designed by Norsk Data. Development started in 1970 and the first NORD-5 was delivered to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute in 1971, together with three NORD-1 16-bit machines. As with all ND's later 32-bit minicomputers the NORD-5 used a 16-bit minicomputer as its front-end. The front-end was used for the operating system, as well as for I/O. The NORD-5 used a NORD-1 as its frontend.
