Path selection
From Computer History Wiki
Path selection refers to that portion of a routing architecture in which paths through a network, from sources to destinations, are selected.
The term routing is sometimes used for this, but that can be confusing, since that term is also used for the forwarding of packets through a datagram packet switch (a router), a wholly different operation; 'path selection' is unambiguous, and facially exactly describes what is referred to, so is preferable.
