Propagation delay

Propagation delay is the time required for a signal to travel from one point to another. It is made up of a combination of speed-of-light delay, and also the time for transistors in gates to switch. If there is any capacitance in the circuit (perhaps implicit, not as a discrete component), the time for it to charge may also be a factor.
