The VAXstation 4000 Model 96 was DEC's most powerful microprocessor VAX workstation. It shared its enclosure with the VAXstation 4000 Model 60; it likewise used a motherboard with SIMM memory modules. Several different graphics options were available:

  • LCSPX (accelerated 2D)
  • SPXg (8-plane 3D)
  • SPXgt (24-plane 3D
