MORIA was a game that ran under VMS on early VAX machines.

Preparations
Get the VMS MORIA V4.43 kit.
The VMS MORIA V4.43 kit includes:
- SIMH VAX-11/750 Linux executable
- SIMH VAX-11/750 Windows executable
- SIMH VAX-11/750 configuration file
- VMS V4.7 RA81 disk image (including VAX PASCAL V2.6)
- VMS MORIA V4.43 RD31 disk image (MORIA sources & executable)
- VMS MORIA V4.43 manual: MORIA-MANUAL.TXT
Unzip to a directory of your choice.
Get it Running
Enter your new MORIA directory and:
- Linux:
./vax750 -q - Windows:
run vax750.exe -q
The SIMH VAX-11/750 will boot VMS V4.7:

Your characters' symbol is @.
You move using the arrow keys on the numeric keypad.
See the comprehensive manual (MORIA-MANUAL.TXT) for the details of the game.
To leave the game and save its current state, type [Ctrl + z] and enter a filename of your choice.
To leave the game without saving, press [Ctrl + z] and confirm with q.
After leaving the game you return to the VMS operating system prompt.
To restart MORIA using your saved state, append the file name you chose when saving to the MORIA command, e.g.:
$ MORIA GAME.SAV
Using the MORIA command on its own results in a new game.
When you are finished, log out from VMS.
$ LOGOUT MORIA logged out at 6-FEB-2024 17:28:29.91
Game Management
You can reset the game to its original state; i.e.:
- All saved games are lost (your save files remain, but will not work any longer)
- The high score list is emptied
Log in as "System Manager":
Username: SYSTEM
Password: MANAGER047 (not echoed)

Graceful Shutdown of the VMS Operating System
Although the VMS operating system is considered to be very robust and can withstand a lot of abuse, you are still recommended to shut it down properly.
Log in as "System Manager" (see above).
Run a graceful shutdown:
$ SHUTDOWN
