Digital UNIX
From Computer History Wiki
(Redirected from Digital OSF/1)
Digital UNIX, initially named DEC OSF/1, is Digital Equipment Corporation’s version of the Open Software Foundation's version of the UNIX operating system, OSF/1. It is a replacement for DEC's earlier ULTRIX. It is based on the Mach microkernel, and includes elements from UNIX System V, and also 4.3 BSD and 4.4BSD. It is fully System V-compliant, but behaves much like a BSD system.
After the merger of DEC and Compaq, it was re-named Tru64 UNIX.
