The PDP-X was a proposed 16-bit minicomputer from DEC from 1967-68; DEC elected to go with what became the PDP-11 instead.

A canard exists that Edson DeCastro, one of the founders of Data General, left DEC when the PDP-X was cancelled (this part may be kind of true), and the PDP-X design was improperly removed with him and became the Nova; the Nova was quite different from the PDP-X, though.
