DEC Ethernet transceivers
These are all DEC Ethernet transceivers. There were others before them. (The first ones I worked with were 3Mbit one from PARC.) I think this page would be better at DEC Ethernet Transceiver. Jnc (talk) 23:26, 9 June 2022 (CEST)
- I will add (resp. have already added) general information about Transceivers. Do you think splitting information about Ethernet Transceivers in general and Ethernet Transceivers of a certain maker would be better?
- Yes. The DEC transceivers are a fairly bounded topic, and should be on their own page.
- Could you please add info about the "3Mbit one(s) from PARC"? Do you know whether these were supported by DEC operating systems? Vaxorcist (talk) 09:26, 10 June 2022 (CEST)
- We already have a fairly complete page for the UNIBUS Experimental Ethernet interface, produced by PARC. I am fairly certain DEC never produced an Experimental Ethernet interface (the only ones that I think existed were the UNIBUS and Alto ones from PARC), so there's no way any DEC software would have supported them. I have no interest in doing a page for the Alto Experimental Ethernet host interface; feel free to do one yourself, the PARC archives should have documentation on them.
- As for the transceivers, I don't know much about the transceiver (although I installed them 'back in the day'). Perhaps the PARC archives has some documentation on them; we did find the UNIBUS Experimental Ethernet interface documentation there. I am fairly sure some still exist; I think at least one of the Altos that are running has a working network connection. I would also guess that the CHM has one, and they might have an image in their online catalog (the same way I found the ARM10L image there), if so. Jnc (talk) 16:21, 10 June 2022 (CEST)
