The TX02 Magnetic Tape Controller seems to be OEMed from Storage Technology Corporation; the STC 3800-IV Tape Control Unit. It supported TU70, TU71 and TU72 magnetic tape drives.
It interfaced to a standard IBM channel interface; for use on the PDP-10, it was connected through a DX10 Data Channel or DX20 Programmed Device Adapter.
