A number of QBUS asynchronous serial interfaces are available; some are single-line units, others are multi-line. Most are programmed I/O (sometimes using interrupts on the QBUS), but there are some which use DMA. Most are peripherals dedicated solely to providing asynchronous serial lines, but a few are multi-function units which also provide other capabilities.
