It's a major crock that Lick doesn't have a [[Turing Award]]. We just never got organized at MIT (his home institution) to press for one. So, I have my own Lick story - admittedly not very interesting, but here it is. When I first started 'doing stuff' at [[LCS]], I was eventually (this would have been about 1978) given an office - a half-room in the very corner of the 5th floor. One office away (almost in the other corner, across the narrow end of the building) was Lick's office. I am ashamed to admit that I had no idea who we was (so I never interacted with him at all, unlike Corby and Jerry). I liken this to being a young physicist getting an office next to Einstein (q.v. "Who Got Einstein's Office?: Eccentricity and Genius at The Institute for Advanced Study", by Ed Regis), and them not knowing who he was. Sigh.
