IMP interface

A device attached to an ARPANET host to communicate with an IMP. The communication interface, the Host-to-IMP Protocol, is specified in BBN Report 1822.

  • BBN IMP-10, used by TENEX.
  • MIT DM IMP, used by MIT-DMS. Made by Bob Metcalfe.
  • MIT KA IMP, used by MIT-AI, ML, and MC.
  • ACC LH/DH, UNIBUS.
  • DEC CSS IMP11-A, UNIBUS.
  • SRI DR11C, QBUS (possibly UNIBUS also)
  • GIMPSPIF, used by 645 Multics.
  • ABSI, used by 6180 Multics.
