DEC Graphics Terminals/Monitors
Should DEC Graphics Terminals resp. Monitors get a category of their own? Where would e.g. a VT340 go - is it a terminal or a graphics monitor or a video terminal, or all at once? Suggestions welcome! Vaxorcist (talk) 22:24, 25 May 2023 (CEST)
- Write the articles, and then we can think about it; for now they can temporarily go in Category:DEC Terminals. I don't have any problem at all creating sub-categories for printing terminals, video terminals, graphics terminals, etc. Jnc (talk) 00:37, 26 May 2023 (CEST)
- Now that I think about it, I guess there's no reason not to go ahead and create them. What did you want to call them - Category:DEC Printing Terminals, Category:DEC Video Terminals, and Category:DEC Graphics Terminals?
- There are also things like the Type 340 Display, which I suppose is a terminal? It's currently in Category: DEC Display Controllers. What do we do with that? (The VAXstation 100 is in the same boat, although I guess it probably goes in the 'Graphics Terminals' category?)
- And also things like the VR201, which probably needs to go in another new category, Category:DEC Monitors; I suppose that might need to also be a sub-category of Category:DEC Hardware - although that seems to be more for physical mounting hardware? (The GT40 also has a DEC-built monitor, the 'VR14', IIRC. I'm sure there must be more.)
- What a can of worms (as the English expression goes)! Jnc (talk) 13:40, 26 May 2023 (CEST)
