DECserver 500
From Computer History Wiki
The DECserver 500 series is a line of DECnet terminal server devices from DEC; models in the line are 500, 510 and 550. They are housed in a BA213 S-Box QBUS enclosure, and include:
- KDJ11-D processor
- DESQA Ethernet controller
- One or more CXY08 and/or CXA16 or CXB16 16-line asynchronous serial line multiplexers
The DECserver 500 series does not store configuration or firmware locally; rather, they are down-line loaded from a DECnet server through the Ethernet interface, using the DECnet MOP protocol.
