The VAXstation II was a follow-on early VAX workstation. It uses a special bus carried on over the back connectors as well as the CD interconnect as its main memory bus (the address space of the QBUS was limited to 4MB, and the data section is only 16 bits wide); and the QBUS only for its I/O bus. Its CPU was the MicroVAX II; the VCB01 Video Controller provided its bit-mapped display.
Further development led to the VAXstation II/GPX, which used the same CPU, but the newer VCB02 Video Controller, which allowed for color and offloaded the CPU from graphics processing.
