The VAX 8810/8820/8830/8840 systems are four VAX 88x0 computer models, the difference between them being the number of CPUs installed in the basic cabinet:

  • VAX 8810 - 1 CPU
  • VAX 8820 - 2 CPUs
  • VAX 8830 - 3 CPUs
  • VAX 8840 - 4 CPUs

The first three may be upgraded in the field by the installation of additional CPU(s).

Additionally there is a prepackaged VAXcluster system VAX 8842 made of two VAX 8820.
